- G-DRIVE RACING BY DELTA-ADR TODAY CONFIRMED STRONG DRIVER LINE-UPS IN ITS TWO CARS FOR THE FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP OPENER AT SILVERSTONE IN TWO WEEKS’ TIME
30 Mar 2013.- Joining Russian racer Roman Rusinov in the No.26 Oreca Nissan are former British F3 Champion, GP2 and Indycar driver Mike Conway – making his first appearance in sportscars – and four time race winner and highly rated Australian John Martin.
In the No. 25 entry former F1 driver Antonio Pizzonia makes his first appearance in the WEC alongside race winner Tor Graves.For Silverstone they will be joined by British racing talent James Walker.
Commenting on the line up Team Manager Simon Dowson said: “We set out to secure the best driver line-up possible and the support we have from G-Drive means we have been able to build a team of exceptionally talented drivers. The competition in LMP2 is fiercer than ever this year so we have to keep pushing hard in order to achieve our goal of winning the WEC and Le Mans.With this line up I think we have the talent in place to secure top results. Mike and Antonio have joined the team alongside already proven race winners so it is a great boost for us.”
Nissan’s Director of Global Motorsport Darren Cox added: “The line-up at G-Drive Racing combines experience from Formula One, Indycar, GP2, World Series by Renault, Formula 3…the list goes on. That just illustrates the level of competition in LMP2 and the fact that 10 of the 14 LMP2 cars on the Silverstone entry list are powered by Nissan Nismo is testament to the success of our customer engine programme. As a company we are very proud of this.”
The two Russian G-Drive branded Oreca LMP2 cars, powered by Nissan Nismo, are on track at Paul Ricard today for the final day of official pre-season testing.
