- THE AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM EXPOSES AN ASTON MARTIN DB2, A MODEL IDENTICAL TO THAT USED IN THE FAMOUS THRILLER “THE BIRDS”
- THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK FILM RECENTLY CELEBRATED HALF A CENTURY SINCE ITS PREMIERE
Málaga July 20, 2013.- Fifty years have passed since viewers leave the cinema with a need to know why the Hitchcock´s birds attack?
The Automobile Museum keeps a close relationship with this great masterpiece of world cinema, where Hitchcock convinced us that the most common birds are not as harmless as they seem. And the vehicle used by the protagonist Melanie Daniel, played by Tippi Hedren, is an Aston Martin DB2 Convertible identical to that discussed in the Automobile Museum, which by the way only 102 units were produced.
Pertaining to its permanent collection and placed in the room Dolce Vita, is known as the “Gentlemen Roadster” combining British style and technical brilliance. With traditional sporty lines, the Db2 was very successful in racing, participating as a prototype at Le Mans in 1949, and as a produced vehicle in 1950 and 1951, remaining in first and second place respectively.
In the movie ‘The Birds’ you can see this beautiful car in the first scenes with the spectacular Hedren driving to the town of Bodega Bay in this elegant Aston Martin. Throughout the tour the roar of the engine and the beauty of this model also made him become the undisputed star of the screen.
But there is another connection between this film and the city of Malaga. Tippi Hedren is the mother of actress Melanie Griffith, which in turn is the wife of actor Antonio Banderas, who on several occasions has also chosen the Automobile Museum for some of its most important celebrations.
