DESIGN AWARD GOES TO THE TOP MODEL IN THE 911 MODEL LINE

Stuttgart, 18.09.2013.- Readers of trade magazine “auto, motor and sport” have chosen the new Porsche 911 Turbo 1) as the best design innovation of 2013 in the “Sportscar” category. Michael Mauer, Director of the Style Porsche team, accepted the “Autonis” award – which is presented every year – in Stuttgart yesterday. In reference to the new top model in the 911 model line 2), Michael Mauer had the following to say: “The Porsche 911 Turbo is instantly recognisable. The air intakes at the side are particularly striking and a typical feature among Turbo models. The rear wing is another characteristic attribute; this feature has been integrated more effectively into the overall design.”

The readers’ survey saw a total of 17,860 people vote for 104 models in eight different categories. Ten vehicles from nine manufacturers were nominated in the “Sportscar” category. The victory of the Porsche 911 Turbo comes just in time to celebrate the model’s double anniversary: Some 50 years ago, the 911 made its début at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. And ten years later, the first 911 Turbo prototype was showcased at the IAA. Even in the 40th anniversary year, the new generation of the 911 Turbo and Turbo S is leading the way in the 911 model line when it comes to technology and driving dynamics – not least thanks to the new all-wheel drive, active rear-axle steering, adaptive aerodynamics, full-LED headlights and its 560-bhp, flat-six engine with double turbocharging.
