  • CHALLENGE AWAITS DRIVERS AND TEAMS IN THE THIRD ROUND AT THE HISTORIC PAUL RICARD CIRCUIT.
  • POINTS’ CONTEST INTENSIFIES AS LAMBORGHINI BLANCPAIN SUPER TROFEO HEADS TO FRANCE

Sant’Agata Bolognese, June 27, 2012 – The third round of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo takes place at the historic Circuit Paul Ricard from 29 June – 1 July.

Competition for the overall title is fierce, with teams and drivers entered from Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy and Switzerland.

The Heico Gravity-Charouz team from the Czech Republic will field five cars at Paul Ricard. The squad’s #99 AM car will feature Patrick Louis, CEO of Lotus F1.

The battle in the AM class is extremely competitive with Italians Roberto Tanca and Leonardo Geraci in the Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L entry on 52 points from the Heico Gravity-harouz pair of Petr Charouz (CZE) and Aristotelis Varvaroussis (GRC) on 47. Fellow Charouz driver Jakub Knoll (CZE) is on 38.

In the PRO-AM category, the contest for overall honours is just as intense with Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter’s Swiss driver Cedric Leimer, the 2011 champion, on 47 points with Bernard Delhez (BEL) Dimitri Enjalbert (FRA) in the Touring Auto 2000 S.R.L (ITA) entry on 39.

Swiss newcomer Stefano Comini, who won both races in the opening round of the 2012 season in Monza on April 14-15, is third on 30 points.

After two extremely wet races at Monza and Silverstone, the visit to the south of France should ensure drier conditions for the weekend.

The 2012 series will be shown on major broadcaster, Eurosport. This agreement allows the series to reach all 59 countries, including Italy, covered by Eurosport, with its reach of 129 million households.

The Eurosport coverage includes a one-minute teaser shown on the Sunday of each race weekend on «Motorsports Weekend» magazine, followed by a 26-minute summary, highlights and interviews aired on the following Tuesday evening.

A 1 minute highlights edit of the races at Ricard will be broadcast Sunday July 1 at 12.00hrs CET on Eurosport International, while the 26 minute highlights will be shown on Tuesday July 3, at

23.15hrs CET on Eurosport International (repeated Wednesday July 4, 08.00hrs CET on Eurosport 2).

Additionally, Lamborghini and Blancpain have announced the launch of a new series of competitions in Asia for 2012. The Asian championship Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo made its debut in Sepang, Malaysia, on 26-27 May 2012 and will continue with five other weekends of racing in Japan and China.

Built in 1969, and located at Le Castellet near Marseille, the Paul Ricard circuit is the creation of pastis magnate, Paul Ricard.

It has a flowing layout of 5.8km that will test the skills of the drivers to the full. Formerly the site of the French Grand Prix, the track is notable for its unique black, blue and red striped run-off areas.

The action starts at Paul Ricard on Friday 29 June with Free Practice 1 followed on Saturday 30 June with Free Practice 2, Qualifying and Race 1. The second race takes place on Sunday 1 July.
