16/05/2012.- THE 3850 METRE JARAMA CIRCUIT, IN SPAIN, WILL STAGE THE OPENING ROUND OF THE 2012 MASERATI TROFEO MC WORLD SERIES. THIS YEAR THE CALENDAR WILL INCLUDE AN EVENT IN THE UNITED STATES (INFINEON, 23 SEPTEMBER) AND IN CHINA (SHANGHAI, 4 NOVEMBER). THE SIX-RACE SERIES WILL ALSO INCLUDE ROUNDS AT PORTIMAO (3 JUNE), IMOLA (24 JUNE) AND PAUL RICARD (22 JULY).
The series appeals to gentleman from all around the world drivers and will be even more interesting this time round given the rule changes and new technical regulations that Maserati have introduced. The GranTurismo MC Trofeo now boasts a new, lighter, aerodynamic set up that improves the car’s performance.
The drivers will all be out to catch David Baldi, the 2011 champion, while the teams will also be up against each other in an Overall classification as well as going for the Team title.
All the cars that compete in the Trofeo are prepared by a group of dedicated technicians to ensure that they have the same performance levels. Private teams can enter their own cars in 2010, 2011 or 2012 spec but must meet the homologation rules and technical requirements laid down by Maserati. The data analysis session provided by Maserati engineers has also been confirmed for the upcoming season.
There will be 25 crews from 12 countries lining up for the first round. Entrants hail from Belgium, Morocco, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Monaco, San Marino, Australia, Hungary, the United Arab Emirates and Denmark.
Video clips will be available in the days following the races at www.thenewsmarket.com with in-depth reports and driver interviews published on the www.maseraticorse.com website.
RMC (Radio Monte Carlo) is the Trofeo’s media partner. Each round of the championship will be presented on the weekly RMC motori and RMC ‘Music & Sport’ slots. For more information, updates, interviews, a photogallery and videos, visit the Blog Sport section at www.radiomontecarlo.net.
