INCREASE IN DELIVERIES WORLDWIDE IN FIRST HALF OF 2012

Hannover, July 12, 2012: In the first half of the current year Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles continued to achieve rising figures for deliveries.

Europe’s leading manufacturer of light commercial vehicles delivered 270,000 units worldwide by the end of June. Compared to the corresponding period last year (January to June 2011: 260,300 vehicles) this represents an increase of 3.7 percent.

Worldwide customer deliveries of the Amarok went up by 24.8 percent to 36,400 vehicles (January – June 2011: 29,100). Crafter deliveries rose by 38.7 percent to 23,900 vehicles (January – June 2011: 17,200). Deliveries of the T5 series increased by 1.3 percent to 81,500 units (January – June 2011: 80,500), worldwide deliveries of the Caddy were down by 2.5 percent to 78,100 vehicles (January – June 2011:80,100).

In Western Europe, deliveries of the Brand from January to June 2012 went up by 1.9 percent to 144,800 vehicles (January – June 2011: 142,100). Deliveries in Eastern Europe to the end of June rose by 29.2 percent to 21,000 vehicles (January – June 2011: 16,300). Vehicles deliveries in Europe as a whole increased by 4.7 percent to 165,800 units (January – June 2011: 158,400).

In the first half of 2012 Germany was the highest-volume European market for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, showing an increase of 5.5 percent to 63,000 customer deliveries (January – June 2011: 59,700).

“Despite the market situation, which is more stressed than last year, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is continuing to achieve good sales results and positive growth rates in cooperation with our dealers and importers”, emphasizes Bram Schot, head of sales and marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

In South America, the Brand delivered 1.8 percent fewer vehicles to customers, handing over 67,700 vehicles (January – June 2011: 68,900). Deliveries of the Saveiro were down by 8.6 percent to 37,300 (January – June 2011: 40,800) whereas the T2 showed growth of 2.2 percent, to 12,800 units delivered (January – June 2011: 12,550).
