SALES IN THE US UP BY 26.8 PER CENT
7/12/2012.- Volvo Car Group reports global retail sales of 35,864 cars for the month of November, representing a 6.5 per cent decline versus 2011. In the United States, Volvo outperformed the market with growth of 26.8 per cent boosted by strong demand for the Volvo XC60 crossover.
The United States is Volvo Car Group’s largest market and for the month of November, retail sales increased significantly, up by 26.8 per cent to 6,145 cars. Sales were driven by strong customer demand for the Volvo XC60 crossover which reached an all-time high sales result of 2,068 cars in November. US retail sales of the XC60 are up by no less than 47 per cent for the first eleven months of the year.
The economic situation in Europe continues to influence the demand for new cars. However Volvo retains its market share, supported by a successful launch of the all-new Volvo V40. Sales in Sweden declined although Volvo represented more than 18 per cent of the market thanks to four models on the top ten list. In China, aggressive incentive levels continue to characterize the car market and Volvo sales deteriorated while the Volvo XC60 had its second best month ever with 1,700 sold cars.
Significant growth was reported by Volvo in Japan and Turkey while Southeast Asian markets also increased their volumes driven by growing demand for Volvo’s 60-series.

The phase-out of the Volvo C30, S40 and V50 models has had a significant impact on sales for the period January through November as the new Volvo V40 has not reached all markets yet. This effect as well as the situation in Europe are the main factors behind the deterioration year-to-date 2012.
The Volvo XC60 was the best-selling model for the first 11 months of 2012 with 96,278 sold cars (2011: 87,457), followed by the Volvo S60 for which deliveries reached 58,704 cars (62,065) and the Volvo V60 with 47,467 cars (45,284).
